Codari: A look back on a fantastic year
posted by codari on 14/10/2009 at 18:06 [1]
Almost one year has passed on by, teams have come and gone and our experience grew with every step we took. The best part is that the center of the organization is still working together side by side, Timothy and Kenneth are still communicating and negotiating to make codari one hell of an organization.

It all started 13 months ago when Timothy & Kenneth started talking about creating an organization that wouldn't only rely on its primary team (thus dieing as soon as their counterstrike team left). It immediately started with drawing rough lines for the entire structure, who would be in charge of what, how would we deal with problems, website, ... Everything was handled even before the first actual line of the website was drawn and a name was found.

Kenneth has written:
I remember like it was yesterday, Timothy came to me how he missed Consensio which we had build before but lost in some tragic way. The subject quickly changed to how good we came along and how it could help us make a stable organization. Besides that we had an excellent bond and had the same ideas as how to run the organization. We immediately started in overdrive as we both wanted this more then ever!

Then nearly 2 months later the first step actually took place, we launched our website and announced our very first team that would play under our name. No shocking names took place in this team since it was the founding fathers and some friends that took part.

After a month the team was going in a down spin and losing interest in the game together with the entire scene until they eventually stopped playing. This was the first break that would occur in codari and would seem like the end for codari.

Winter was coming down hard on us, the organization we both worked so hard on was completely halted. This was about to change abruptly when talks started again between Kenneth and KeviN (known from team anonyme currently) after 6 months about helping each other out.

Some talks later the decision was final and KeviN and his team would be the first and last (till this point) counter strike source team that would join Codari. The team consisted of the following players:
nl Henk 'voKUS' Heidstra
nl Bas 'vosje' van de Spoel
nl Kevin 'keviN' Consen (Team Captain)
nl Jurriaan 'South' Jansen
nl Pim 'vinx' Walraven

This joining took place on the 26th of January 2009 and started with some media attention (thanks to bescene.net).

Almost one month later Codari was chosen by HEADshout to be one of the first teams to be shoutcasted by them, this happened the 17th of February 2009 in the match between Codari.CSS and Plausible5.CSS which was won by Codari with 17 to 13.

Then one week later the troubles started piling up internal between the management and one of the members of the team, added by the mediocre but not outstanding results it was decided in a snap to split ways.

This announced the second break Codari would be taking that beginning year. All contacts froze over and a death was nearing. But we kept getting emails from all over Europe asking to join our organization so we sat down and saw that Codari shouldn't die.

After some talks to some people we where able to choose the best candidate to build a team around our organization. This lucky person who gained our trust was Thierry 'hUX' Bas. He didn't disappoint us and soon proved that he could assemble a descent team and had the contacts in the gaming world. Besides that he was ultimate motivated to make this thing work.

One month after the talks he acted and announced his team to everyone, even us as organization had no idea who he had chosen to join his quest. This was a good move because it surprised us in a good way on how he handled himself.

Again he announced it and was not only posted on bescene.net but also on Gamelux.net. His chosen few where the following:
be Thierry 'hUX' Bas
be Andreas 'smiTTe' Smits
be Nick 'kcin' Eferti
be Youri 'ziby' Vandenhoute
be Jason 'SuratAw~' Stehli
be Jeroen 'feZ' Cobbaut

Yet they also suffered by the lack of interest in the scene and soon forgot to enjoy the game and thus this was the second counterstrike team in one year that suffered by the 'gaming-crisis'. The end of this team also announced the start of the summer and thus the most inactive period of the year.

Kenneth has written:
I believed Thierry was one of the few people out their that was honest about his plans and goals and was extremely motivated. Till this day I still don't regret placing him in charge to lead a team. He only made the codari name better!

Because it was summer (or at least summer was on its way) we took a vacation and announced it that we would come back after the summer.

Nearing the end of the summer we sat down again and looked at the possibilities we had for Codari. Timothy decided to take the bet one more time and try to get a team to join the organization, for the glory of codari. These talks started around August and the plans are now finally coming into action (better work slow and good then fast and die in a day).

What better way to celebrate our one year anniversary to do the same like we started... Announcing a new counter strike 1.6 team to represent us. Hopefully we will have more action this year but we are older, have more experience and have gained services to help us in what we love the most.

Lastly we, the Codari Gaming Organization would like to thank the following people for all their extraordinary assistance this past year. Let us remind you, we did NOT forget about you!

- Timothy 'Delesiz' Steenbeke (Founding father)
Without you Codari would have died a long time ago, you are the part that keeps this engine going. Always the one to take a step forward and don't look back!

- Kenneth 'Spilo' Hansen (Founding father)

- Jasper 'mextli' De Decker (Player)
You helped us pass some valleys and rough terrain, kept pushing us in the right direction and helped where we needed it.

- Thibaut 'wodaN' De Smet (Player)
Same as Jasper you where always ready at any time of the day to help us.

Gilles 'vusin' De Decker (Biggest fan & Player)
Biggest fan, nothing more to say!

Thanks to everyone who was once part of Codari. I never thought we where colleagues, but friends!

Quick update on how things are going.

We are currently without a team but this will change in the near future for the summer! You don't need to check this site every day because it WILL take a while before a team will be ready to be showed to the public.

Have a good exam-period and we'll see you after that!

FATLAN post-event
posted by hUX on 04/05/2009 at 13:41 [0]
FATlan is over, a great time to review how our team did at this event.

Counter-Strike 1.6:
Codari.cs was sent out as a mix team and thus it wasn't our goal to finish first, we just wanted to get as high as possible in the rankings.

All in all we did okay-ish. Reaching the 1/8th finals and having to forfeit the last map in a best-of-3 match (which was tied 1-1) we where stranded at the 7/8th place.

We are not excluding the possibility that a movie will be released, so stay tuned for that matter!

FIFA09
Our most prominent member hUX was able to reach the quarter finals which he lost to the player that would eventually get 2nd place. Thus leaving him stranded at the x/xth place.

LEFT 4 DEAD
Again our most prominent member hUX wasn't sitting still as he also played with Team-Defcom, they reached the finals and won the tournament.

All in all our team has made a good impression to the people who where there and proved that they can achieve something in the long run.
